New year, new you?

One of my favorite teachers Francis Chan once said “The world says to love yourself, grab all you can, follow your heart. But Jesus says deny yourself, grab your cross and follow me” We're officially three days into the new year, if you've already failed or succeeded at your long or short list of New Years resolutions, make sure a relationship with Christ is included regardless✨. I seriously would not have made it this far if it wasn’t for Jesus, putting my time with Him first above any and everything to daily grow a sensitivity to His voice.

In the new year do not put so much emphasis on making sure you go to church weekly, yes, go to church weekly! But as a church, we have failed to teach the importance of teaching others the importance of being alone with God after church.

Being alone with God it is so sweet, so fulfilling to know that as you spend time with the God of the friggin universe who has not only made the Earth but is also responsible for the galaxies, the sun, those beautiful waterfalls and your favorite flower, cloudy days, sunny days, lightning and storms, and has made me, you and even your favorite person that you know [and/or hate] by hand...this God, Jesus, He responds to you as you spend time. He gives direction, carries your anxiety, and gives heavenly gifts of peace, joy...and essentially purpose on Earth If you made any type of New Years Resolution, let the top of the list be “Quiet time with God” and let it start now. What does that look like? Putting your phone up. Grabbing a highlighter and a bible, a journal and just asking God to teach you something you never knew. Take your time to search the scriptures. Journal what you hear and read. And practice this daily . . “When you draw near to God, He will draw near to you” James 4:8
